Watering

10/11/2012

I read a chapter from Proverbs each day, and this passage was in today’s reading:

“There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leasds to poverty. The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself. The people will curse him who withholds grain, but blessing will be on the head of him who sells it.”

Prov. 11:24-26

This concept is usually thought of in terms of finanace, but it can apply to a myriad of other things. We may be splendidly generous with our money (especially at church), but how are we doing in the rest of our lives?

We can give our time. It could be volunteering at a do-good organization, or as simple taking the time to have someone in need over for tea and a good talk. What about your kids—although it may seem like you see them a lot (especially if you homeschool!), have you actually spent quality time with them lately?

Don’t be tight-fisted with your worldly possesions. I’m not saying to give everything away, but rather, if someone is in need of something that you have, the Lord may lead you to give it to them. If He does, give it cheerfully. He will reward you!

There are countless other ways to give to people. See how many you can find today!
